From Mahindra Scorpio to Toyota Hilux, all diesel cars to hit the market this year

There is a constant demand for diesel powered vehicles in the Indian market. But at present the supply seems to be decreasing accordingly. Before the implementation of BS7 emission norms in India, many companies used to launch passenger cars with diesel engines in the market. But after the introduction of new pollution rules, the prices of diesel cars started increasing, car makers like Maruti Suzuki and Volkswagen have completely stopped bringing cars with diesel engines. In fact, diesel cars are so popular because of their higher mileage and torque than petrol models. The report looks at the top five upcoming diesel vehicles in the Indian market.

Toyota Hilux

The screen was removed from the Toyota Hilux on January 20. It will be launched this month and the price will be announced on the same day. The 2.7-litre diesel engine of the pick-up car will get 201 bhp power and 500 Nm torque. The car will come with the option of 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. After launch, the Toyota Hilux will compete with the Isuzu V-Cross. The price of this car in India could be Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom).

jeep meridian

The Jeep Meridian will be launched on the 29th of this month and will be officially launched in the market in May. It is based on Jeep Compass. The all-wheel drive feature car is expected to come with both petrol and diesel engine options. Its 2.0-litre Multijet engine will generate 183 bhp power and 350 Nm of torque. It gets 6-manual and 9-speed automatic gear options. Estimated price of the house is Rs 19-33 lakh (ex-showroom). Its rival list includes Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and MG Gloster.

Hyundai Tucson

The fourth generation model of the Hyundai Tucson is finally ready to make its debut in India. It has already been launched in the world market. The engine will not change in the new generation variant, it will come with the engine of the previous model. Its 2.0-litre diesel engine generates 162 bhp power and 400 Nm torque. The ex-showroom price of the new model in the Indian market is expected to be Rs 22-26 lakh. Meanwhile, the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, MG Hector and Citroen C5 will compete with the Hyundai Tucson.

Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra Scorpio is a well known name in the car market. It’s been a long time since any new version hit the market. This time is going to come. It is expected to enter the Indian market by the middle of this year. The car was spotted on Indian roads during the test. It is reported that it will also be seen with the Terno engine. The 2.2-litre m-Hawk diesel engine of the Scorpio produces 155 Bhp of power and 360 Nm of torque. Its price could be Rs 10-14 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Creta 2022

The facelift version of the Hyundai Creta 2022 was unveiled in November last year. The mid-size SUV of the Korean automobile company can be launched on Diwali this year. The updated model will come with a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine. Due to which the power of 114 bhp and torque of 250 Nm can be obtained. The car can be bought as an option with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Kia Seltos, Suzuki S-Cross, Skoda Kushak, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor will be in the market. The price of Hyundai Creta 2022 could be Rs 11-18 lakh (ex-showroom).
